I hope we have time to converse a bit, but in case that hasn't happened yet, you've clicked here to learn about the "me" in the classroom, so here you go!

From the beggining |
Where I am now |
Born in Woodhaven, Queens, NY (76th & Jamaica Ave!), we moved, and I graduated from high school in the suburbs.
I attended and graduated State University of New York at Plattsburg with my B.S. in Secondary Education in English and married my college sweetheart three months later :) By the time we moved to NC, we were three! The coastal area of Elizabeth City was definitely warmer, but it wasn't to become "home" for us or my parents who somewhat followed us to warmer climes. We came to Greensboro for its education system, both for work and for our children's educational experiences. Since arriving, I've completed my Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from U.N.C.G. and achieved my National Boards of Professional Teaching Standards certification. After 14 years of teaching 8th grade, I finally graduated to high school to teach 9th grade for a few years and am now in my 19th year and teaching English II. |
My voyage at Grimsley began in 2013 after waiting four long years of applying and vying for a position. I knew I was a "shoe-in" when they heard my request to "only teach freshmen"!
I am an NC Core Advocate and work around the state providing teachers with insights and helping them plan experiences using our state's Reading and Math standards, though we know clearly which one I'm better at! You can usually find me enjoying free time on the water in a kayak or on a paddleboard, on a trail or mountainside, or sitting in the sun reading *ahem* grading papers. When I grow up, I will travel, write, and travel some more. My dream vacation is something like tornado chasing in Tahiti. It's complicated. |
